First, long story short...
marymouse is the greatest.
A couple weeks ago during the last FBA General Meeting, it was pointed out to me that all of my badges of Buck Hopper were obsolete now with B-Hop traded to the Dakota Bikers. That hit me a little more than I'd expected, especially when I realized that my Mary Mouse badges were included.
I have four of them, and I love them all to pieces. I adore the way Mary draws my character. Yes, I know the round pink nose isn't anatomically accurate, I know the big buck teeth are super cartoony, but that's exactly why I love it. Mary Mouse makes B-Hop look like a cartoon character, ripped right from the classic Warner Brothers cartoons of the 40's and 50's. But she takes it a step further. Despite all the fuzzy fur, the long ears, the cartoon trappings, Buck looks athletic under her hand. He looks muscular and confident. He looks modern. Mary brilliantly takes an old-school cartoon style and tweaks it to capture a convincing image of a bunny rabbit super athlete. And every time I see the way she draws my character, it's not only like Chuck Jones just came back to make a new cartoon about Buck Hopper, but that he's now a hardcore b-ball fan who knows and respects the game. That's nothing short of a miracle, and it proves just what a talent she is.
And that's why when I realized my Mary Mouse badges were no longer current, it hit pretty hard. But I figured I could get another badge at the next con. Besides, it had been a while since I'd spoken to Mary, and I hadn't even told her about the trade.
Except I didn't need to. Less than a day later, this gift art was in my email box.

Amazing pic and look like Buck seem quite evil.. I mean happy on his new team.. also
marymouse still the greatest.
marymouse still the greatest.
i really love the toon-y style, and the glow of the stadium lights. I prefer to imagine the majority of FBA players appearing in this style, which is one of the reasons I love the work of
marymouse and
o-kemono
Beautiful work! Looks like B-Hop is transitioning into his new surroundings quickly and confidently.
