So for my most recent assignment we had to pick a phrase and illustrate it. My phrase was 'cool like the other side of the pillow' in which a person sleeping has a dreamlike snowy scene occurring below their pillow. I had to stretch the face out a bit too far for my liking in this. Also I would have liked more space between the top image and the bottom image, but I had very limited background space ;.; (as always JPEG kills color quality...there is meant to be a cooler tone to the bottom half)

The bottom shot has good lighting. Looks like clamshell with the right one being a bit higher. Blue filters I take it or is that playing with the white balance? The blue serves the scene well, so good choice. The tag on the scarf is driving me nuts though XD wanna cut it off. Howd you get the background flakes to have movement streak? Was that a separate shot? You'd think they'd reflect the flashes well enough that they'd be frozen just like the subject.
I just played with the white balance because the gel I attempted did not have he hue I wanted. uggghhh the tag drove me crazy to but this image was uterly rushed :/ I'm actaully not too happy with how this iamge turned out. I had the flakes slightly further in the background being thrown. I used a slightly sloer shutter speed and a shalow depth of feild to add extra blur.
Thanks. You are good at portraits for sure. Don't be afraid to be creative. Best portraits, I think at least, are ones that really tell a story within a frame. Best stories are based on emotion condensed to their most intuitive visualization. For a while I thought to focus more on portraiture but gave up for lack of subjects XD
