Yeah but did you hear about the original scripted ending? It was the Rapture the real deal with angels and fire and demons! Like angels coming from out of the sky and carrying away (now this part I can't recall which I read or such but either they save the evil cult people or the innocent cops and victims of the cult while demons drag the others into Hell), but since Kevin Smith was making in with his own money a lot like how he did with Clerks he couldn't afford the special effects that'd be needed to do that ending!
Yeah that ending way the thrown together one! But Kevin Smith loves ironic endings and he wanted his horror movie that was throughout had no supernatural elements to end on one! And the irony of one side being saved while the others are damned to hell for all eternity!
