Haha. I remember a classic willy and joe cartoon, where they're looking at a massive trail of gas masks leading into the distance and one says something to the effect of "Oh look, the replacements have arrived."
I need to get a gas mask for when I get back into WW1 reenacting...since we use smoke bombs to represent gas attacks. :P Lot better than having to take a hit because you don't have a mask to put on. xD

IIRC, the only confirmed uses are by the Germans in the Siege of Sevastopol on Soviet troops who were still holding out deep in the artillery bunkers, and the Japanese in China. Beyond that, there's isolated reports of British using mustard gas at Monte Cassino, and there was indeed a british cargo ship, carrying mustard gas, that exploded and showered the Naples docks with gas. So it's possible that a few shells that were shipped over eventually were used, though probably on accident (the gas shell shipments were only to be used in case the Germans used gas).
I had a feeling someone was going to chime in with their knowledge of the subject when I made my comment. Of course it was used, but not as much as people expected, I could say? I did read about how the Japanese left gas weapons in China, in some cases burring them. After the war there were reports of people unfortunately finding some of the gas weapons, or being harmed by the gasses being emitted that were left there. Anyway, interesting, "The more you know". =P
