Could words ever express what a sad song has to give?
For those stuck in another world
Could a song ever help with a great escape?
Is it just what I have to offer is a pin dropping in the dark silence?

I try to compose the sound
That will help you sleep peacefully the next night
I grasp my head
Searching for an unfathomable well from which answers can be found

The days go by, but still, they elude me
An investment in gold, an investment in happiness
And food, water, shelter, and medicine

Time may be a burden some of its time
But perhaps, in some small way
The notes from an old worn piano
Could help to soothe the blows and bruises?

I just scrape at the keys, looking for something to give for a fulfillment, self-evident
A stroke of your hair, and trying to tell you things will be okay

A look at your eyes, and trying to make everything okay
A word to the wise, don't let this heart die
For it's one like I've never seen before...
