Finally I finished the setup for the proportion test character. This is still basically the same character mannequin that I have showed earlier, but now the controls (shown on the right) determine the relative size of the various body parts. The controls do not break the hierarchy so if you change the arm length, the hands will follow. The sliders allow only a certain range of settings (generally between 5% and 200% of the "human proportion"), but that is quite enough for even super deformed characters.
Shown here is exactly such an SD version. With a head at 200%, reduced arm, leg, and body lengths, and enlarged hands and feet, this is a cutie...
...if you ignore that he is still 1.80 meters high, which would be pretty scary in real life. Ouch!
