I love my 70-200 f2.8 Don't leave home with out it... If I can help it. And I never listen to people who tell me it's too heavy... it's only like 3.5 pounds :)

Hah, weight is never an issue. I actually love the weight of my new 16-50(Don't listen to the negative reviews, the softness around the edges at 2.8 is nice for portraits, and is gone by F3.5...not even a full stop to remedy it)

Only thing making me want to *not* get a 70-200 is the DA* 60-250. Can pick one up used for a little more than a 70-200.

Looking at getting a 28mm f1.8 Refurbished for 339.00... Should be fun to work with and give me a nice wide'ish angle that will hopefully be very useful. 3

I hear the Pentax 35 2.4 is much better optically. Though not quite as wide. (Offers a view just over standard)

Pentax has got'n under my skin a bit when it comes to their glass.... I love my K5 mind you... but I've been looking at Sigma for all my lenses... the only lens I really wanted from Pentax was the 40mm limited but they're CRAZY if they think I'm going to pay 500 dollars for it... they can take a long walk off a short peer. O well... HUGS!

The recent pricing policy has caused a spike in costs. The 35 2.4 is still quite cheap though, as it never went up. Goes for $200 new. About $125 used. Also, it covers full frame, should you wish to shoot with film.

40mm limited also isn't that impressive compared to the 40mm XS.(The smaller, plastic version released when the K-01 launched)

Pros for Limited:
Edge Sharpness wide open(About a 5% increase on the MTF charts I've seen)
Quick Shift Focus
All metal build

Pros for XS:
Better center sharpness wide open
Better aberration resistance
Smaller profile
Lighter
About half the price.

Basically, the only Pentax lenses worth buying currently are:
35 2.4
40mm 2.8 XS
DA L 55-300
FA Limited Trio(Price wasn't affected greatly by the policy change)
Weather sealed lenses of any type. (Sharpness is a bourgeois concept...especially if you get moisture in your lens, or under your Low Pass Filter)

Sigma seems to have cheap options for the following:
50/150-500 (50-500 for closer objects, 150-500 for long end sharpness)
28 1.8
30 1.8
Fisheye(Best Bokeh, Best Sharpness across frame, second best flare resistance[Only to the SMC Pentax Fisheye zoom])

Tamron the Following:
17-50(Best in class sharpness, cheapest between Sigma/Tam/Pentax, lacks weather sealing and isn't as impressive at F8 as Sig/Pen)
70-200 (Best in class optics, second best AF)
10-24 (Best in Class Optics again)

This one reminds me of lava.. although you have managed to capture the blue flame toward the middle left of the center of the picture.
