Oddy is an artist. He sketches, he dances, and he sings. This, of course is vital, since he is a member of Team Uta (Song). Everyone in the Team is required to sing, including the Leader, Himatsu "Splash" Nakahara.
Oddy practically lives in his parents' basement, painting and sketching all sorts of pictures. His parents, (both Vileplume) are slightly worried that he might be gay, try to gently discourage him and get him outside. They don't know whether to be worried or excited over his new friends, but the parenting books said not to panic, not to panic....

To be honest it seems to be a mashup of both high school and college (most high schools don't have on-site dorms or require scholarships, after all). The specifics of the overall setting are still kinda unclear beyond "it's a school", so I tend to default to treating more like a college atmosphere.
