Dear Aku,
Well what I think is that the composition is very well thought out and the perspective that we get on the two together resembles a demanding relationship that they doth are involved in. The story one could tell about this piece leaves a very vague gap which we as an audience have a duty to fill. By examining it closely I can see the amount of detail put into this one and the soft smooth lines used to comfort the viewer as if there was no real harm, but only pleasure. The scales are by far quite significant in the realism aspect and have been well placed easily bringing the snake to become a very well modelled figure in the artwork. In saying this, the textures are quite impressive on many scales. Now we are brought to the other side, the side of emotion. The expression on Jade's face is one of insecurity and vulnerability being easily manipulated becoming an easy target for predators to take advantage of this type of situation. Another aspect of this piece that is absolutely outstanding is the colour contrast between Jade and this devious snake. Even the background makes these two figures pop out showing what is more important in the scenario. An example of what I am talking about is the highlighted belly of the snake. It easily shows a flow between the two, not just separating them into different objects. It gives us an understanding of the relationship the two have and of the movement that will soon occur later on. All in all this is a wonderful piece of art that deserves recognition. I will now take my leave and have Alek come back to speak with you.
Sincerely, Alek
