Apple Jack, squared! Photos taken in the lobby of the FAU hotel, 2012, but these exact two ponies WILL be available in the Fur Fright dealer's room! Unless, of course, someone buys one *here* before Thursday morning..
$50.oo USD each, plus shipping. I haven't even posted these to Etsy yet.

Pre-made ponies take as long as custom ponies. I work in batches of 4-6 of the same body color per week, or it would take even longer to make these. If I could sew FASTER, I really would, I love making these!
Also, you are under no obligations to buy. I'm simply posting my work to show, and hopefully advertise, to people who might think this is worth their while.

Thank you, dear, that's sweet of you to say!
I'm always looking for new ideas, and these aren't the only things I make.
I've been able to speed up production time on my narwhal plushies, and when I got down to a comfortable pace, I was able to drop the price from $25 to $20.
I think the most expensive plush I've made was a 5' tall, 6' wide The Cheat (Homestar Runner), and that took about fifteen hours to finish, ended up selling at KatsuCon many years ago, for about $150. ($10/hour, less materials.. Gosh, what did I spend on that? Two boxes of stuffing, five yards of yellow and black fleece, thread and so forth.. Hm. I suppose the bill would have been about $50 for the materials alone, so.. Ooof. Yeah. That sold at a loss on hourly wages. Still, it was a great project, and now I know I *CAN* do something that big, haha)
Anyhow.. FA seems like the place to be to network and just show off. Hearing back on all these comments is very inspiring!!

Not at all dear, I get this question a lot, and I don't want this to sound like a rant. I'm always happy to explain.
And of course, I can map out my expenses.
Sewing, and working conventions, is my full time job. This is not a hobby because I need to pass the time or quell some hyper-active hands.
Each pony takes about 6 hours to make from start to finish. (There's more hand sewing in these than you would think!)
Plus the cost of the materials.
Plus the time it takes to research and fetch the materials.
Plus the time it takes to photograph and edit photos and post listings.
Plus Etsy and Paypal fees.
Plus time and gas spent getting to and from the post office.. You see what I'm getting at here.
If the only cost I account for is my own time, I am sewing ponies for $8.33/hour. I have had people offer to pay more, but I feel just horrible raising the price for one person, and not the rest.
When I sew costumes, or build plush from scratch, I work at $15.oo per hour.
But it got a little sickening to see pony plush sell on eBay for $800 each or more - a work of art that might take the maker some $30 in materials and 15 hours to make really shouldn't cost so much. I wanted to offer the fans an affordable alternative.
I have two smaller, simpler patterns of my own design (This body pattern was made by BabyLondonStar on DA, and didn't need too many tweaks to work *for me*, and each pony gets custom-drafted hair, every time I make one. I don't keep hair patterns, so each one is different.), but I'm a horrible photographer (as you can see) and haven't posted them yet.
I would *LOVE* to sell these ponies for less. I really would. But I'm not a factory in China, and I really do have bills to pay.
I hope that clears things up!

Most of the ponies I make are done in fleece - it's affordable, and available in many colors. This fabric, however, has hardly any stretch to it. It's a very tight fashion knit I'd purchased about a decade ago, and never got around to using. The texture is buttery, and nubbly, it's very nice to cuddle with, but I really haven't found anything quite like it since. I have no idea what to call it. Sorry!
Ah! But the manes for these two AJ's is fleece (Blizzard, not polar, though I use both, and whatever else I can find to suit.) The ribbon is the usual common poly-silk, and the eyes are hard plastic, with plastic (not metal, ew) anchors hidden inside.
..And squeakybutts. Because you'd squeak, too, if someone grabbed you there.

Mmmh, Fwitters!
