[MUSIC] Multipass
Track three from my recent experiments with eJay. This one uses a number of fun quotes from the film The Fifth Element, which is a long time favourite of mine. I originally set out to make this track appropriately silly and light-hearted, what with the quotes and all, but the direction that the feel of the music ended up taking was a little more emotional, landing on a sort of vaguely uplifting/melodic/epic trance type of sound, or something. My experience with various sub-genres of trance and electronica tends to be in an 'I know what I like' capacity, so I'm sure more experienced ears could place the result more exactly.
I'm quite pleased with how this one came out, I enjoy the emotions it evokes in me. My experience so far suggests that, even more than my previous two experiments, this one's probably best heard through decent headphones or a good stereo, otherwise some of the parts tend to get a bit lost in the mix.
Made using eJay 2 Special Edition - Techno. Samples from The Fifth Element are copyright their owner (Gaumont Film Company/Buena Vista International, I believe) and used here only in innocent and non-profit fun.

Aww, thanks very much! *tailwags* I'm not anticipating getting anywhere above a strictly amateur level with this sort of thing, but I'm trying to take the advice I've been getting from you and ToeClaws to heart and improve things where I can. ^^ Very glad that you like it!
Arp is short for Arpeggio. In electronic music an arp is a series of notes that's automatically played when you've only placed a single note. Basically, they make things sound complex when you haven't really done much, and have a professional feel to them. The thing is though, they're limited in what they can be used for because of that. Does that clarify things? Sorry if I'm still coming up short... ^=^;
Ahhh okay, I think I get what you mean. :) From the way you describe it, I think that's more or less how eJay works. You click and drag small blocks of music and sound into position on a grid of tracks and bars. Each clip is a short building block, that can be a simple repeatable drum or bass line, some kind of sound effect, a keyboard chord, etc. You can alter pitches and play with effects a bit, but the options will probably start to get limited eventually. So yeah, I get what you mean! EJay is a great starting point I think, and where my skill level is right now it's more or less perfect, but if I want to go much further with this new little hobby I'll probably want to graduate to something more powerful at some point.

It sounds retro trance, if you don't mind. Like, it takes me back to 2001, back when this sound was all still the latest and people were figuring out what you could do with it... and that was cool, have great memories of doing massive workout with this kinda stuff at home, on Winamp, good times.

Hah, very cool. :) I'm certainly good with sounding retro! It probably makes good sense really, since my own musical tastes tend to be pretty eclectic and I often discover things I like a bit late. I'm almost never aware of what's big and new right now, so I show up late to all the trendy things and popular stuff and latest internet memes. XD And I'm also very much in that early 00's situation of just now figuring out what all I can do with this. ^^ Glad it takes you back to fun memories!
