The Gyr Mellori (or just "Mellori") are a species I came up with a while back. They are genderless beings that hatch from small, bird-like eggs. They are commonly associated with an Icelandic breed of faerie called the Fylgiar.

These small, faerie-like demons feast upon rotting flesh, especially that of their own kind. For each one of their kind that they feast upon, they gain the energy of the previous. When excess energy accumulates, the Gyr Mellori coughs up an egg. When it hatches, the demon's first instinct is to hunt down one of its own kind, kill it and eat it.

Gyr Mellori are only friendly if they feel they have something to gain. If one befriends you, that means its just waiting for you to die so it can eat you. Consider it a compliment.

They are also known to grant wishes in exchange for flesh they consider worthy of their palate.
