
So, a question for you all!
As mentioned in my journal here, I'm making up several stick-on fixings to make props look more authentic. Since starting that I've also wanted to turn a couple of them into steampunk-themed buttons.
These are some of the initial castings of the large screwhead buttons. PU resin with brass filler powder for an authentic gleam. You just lightly abrade them to bring it to the surface.
I used some clear nail-varnish as a seal on the left-hand sides of each of these (except bottom left which is completely varnished) buttons to compare the finish since unsealed I feel it leaves it a bit dusty looking. I think I'll try a satin varnish next time though.
Each button is a unique mix of brass quantity and pigment shade. I have my favourites, but I'd like your opinion; which ones look best to you?
If you could list your top three in order of preference, it'd be really helpful. :)
