Oh thats just awesome. Im curious actually. Im just working on re-doing my store and online merch etc, and I was wondering, first of all what do you think is the most important thing about designing art for merchandice, and second, what kind of revenue do you actually get from it. Ive had stuff up for ages now and have yet to make pretty much anything.

To be honest, I haven't made much of anything either from Cafepress. I can tell you right now, I have $40 in profit sitting in my Cafepress hold right now that started collecting maybe 4 months ago. The clock kicked that up a bunch though, but even with everyone commenting on it I've only sold 3 of them so far; one of those to my mother. ;)
Really though, just as important as having good products out there is advertizing it. I've been lax in this myself, as most of the sales I've gotten on Cafepress are from people being referred there from Cafepress's "Marketplace" thing. If you have a nitche you can show your stuff to that would be interested (like I am able to do here), do that. Don't hawk your stuff like a shady car salesman, but if you post something new don't be afraid to say "Hey, I made this new thing in my shop, go check it out!"

I think its the 'I made a NEW Thing thats part of the issue, as most of my stuff is a wee bit old. But yeah, that clock was freaking genius, your Mom's got good taste. You had a really good idea and executed it brilliantly. Im working on the advertising side of things, but I think the removal and re-design of my merch is going to be on the cards soon. Thanks for your advice and sharing of info hon, and keep up the Great work.
Might i suggest opening up a Spreadshirt shop as well? Due to import and export tax stuffs, ordering from Cafe Press if you're in Europe gets a little more than normally expensive, you see - there's a whole untapped market for ya there ;) ...just randomly, hope it helps *giggles* :)
