I needed a new one. So here's me squinting in my Alice costume before the Halloween party. Fake eyelashes make my eyeballs go WUUUT. XD
Also, I can't smile without looking uncomfortable, so get used to very mild disappointment!

I know what you mean about smiling.
My teeth are not perfect either.
I can't help but smile without my teeth. I don't think I would know how after all these years. The idea of showing my teeth, lifting my lip when I smile- revolting.
Weird to those of us unlike us.
Totally understandable to me.

somehow, I accidentally hid my comment. :/ I'm tired, I don't know how that happened.
I appreciate the understanding. I honestly don't think mine are god-awful, but yeah, I just got so used to it from my pre-teen years onward that I lost the ability to teach myself how to smile naturally. so all my smiles look really uncomfortable! :D I've tried to practice how I might smile if I got all of my teeth completely replaced (as if I could ever afford that, hah) and even then, I think if I had a perfect new installation of teeth, my smile would probably always look uncomfortable just from being trained to be so. It's really very innate. so I've always smiled this sort of shy "I don't like cameras" smile.

ANd do understand friend, that having perfect teeth may actually make you less cute, less attractive.
Other than for medical reasons, I should never change my teeth. They don't look bad. But that modified behavior, that "Oh my god I don't have perfect teeth and must be seen as weird" mentality we had as kids runs through us all.
I was, as a child, very sensitive. It did not help that I have an odd last name. So having less than perfect teeth that my mother noted were "buck," led me to hide them as you hide yours.
Now I know better. God made me as he would have me- the unique creation known as Anthony Ficton. But as a child, I would have given much to change my teeth and my name.
Oh parents, please be very gentle with your words to your children. You know not just how much of an effect you have upon them!

Shhhhh! Don't tell anyone! Anthony Ficton is my pen name, not my given name.
Lol, my last name was and indeed is utterly horrific to grow up with!
ANd I just saw your photo in your black and white stockings as Alice. Adorable is indeed a good word.
Hypnotic would be another!

I'm glad, because it's the same costume I wore two years before, and I won "sexiest costume". But that night I wore thigh-high stockings, platforms, and generally slutted it up a lot more. This year the theme was children's stories and I didn't have enough money for my Fionna costume (Adventure Time) so I had to repurpose this one. I went with my black and white striped stockings from my Triana Orpheus costume (from the year before) and ballet flats. I wanted to put something over the keyhole to lessen the cleavage but I ran out of time, so I just kept adjusting it all night. *LOL*
I just wasn't able to take any good pics by myself before the party. I'll post one if I can find any on Facebook from the party ^_^
Some dude I met sent me this on Facebook, but it's an awful, low-res pic. X3 Haha.

I looked rough, seriously, I had three hours of sleep and was soooooo cold. *LOL*
When I walked into the party, before I could even put my coat down two girls sitting on the stairs shrieked "ADORABLE!"
I'm 30! It feels good to get that reaction from strangers. Then again, my friend circle is full of hilarious gamers with no social graces, so you get a lot more validation from them because they have no problem jumping on you and smothering you with gropes when they don't really know you.
I can't say I was the cutest, though. Danni won that honor dressed as a sexy Rocky in a Rocky/Bullwinkle/Boris group costume. I want pictures so bad so I can post them because Bullwinkle was a fellow FA-er's new moose fursuit. I'm not a suiter or even a furry but it's the cutest. costume. And she's so short. So it's just. Gah. So cute.
I love how every little gesture is exascerbated in a fursuit. And since she couldn't talk, if someone said something punny or stupid she'd barely make an "ugh" gesture and it was so cartoony that we'd all fall over laughing.

Thank you! ;___; OH! THAT REMINDS ME!
I haven't been online much the past few months, but I took a chance the other night and attempted to sing and play at the same time. I know I still have a long way to go to sing well, but I just need a lot of practice. I hope it isn't too bad for only playing for five months and not really ever trying to sing until this year. ♥ Enjoy hearing me laugh as I realize I just went off-key.
And here's a newer clip of me just practicing playing only. With nails that were wayyyy too long or I'd have sounded a lot better. I'm still really stubborn about that!

Hey~! I am so sorry this is a bit late o.o I checked this on my phone before I slept the other night and totally meant to answer once I listened to the links on my pc >=l *bops herself*
You have a lovely quality to your voice. It's jsut so charming I think. Very sweet, almost childlike in a good way (if that makes any sense). I also think your Ukulele playing is great, it's mostly in time as well as being clear when you hold the strings down for the chords. I can vouch for the fact it's bloody hard to get the notes to sound clear at times, especially when you're trying to remember the chord sequence. Perhaps I find it hard going from a full-size guitar with steel strings to a tiny nylon strung Ukulele. It confuses my poor brain XD
Thank you so much for sharing! I haven't given my Ukulele any love for a few months now, even though I bought it expensive strings. I haven't put them on because I've never done it before and am afraid of messing up! But you've made me want to get over that and replace them and see how nice the Ukulele sounds afterwards. I am so thrilled you're enjoying playing it and even singing as well :) You're doing great and you're right about the practice... all of us need to keep that up regardless of skill or we get all rusty.
Thanks for being patient with me replying, I am so sorry I was a bit slow :| !
*sends love and hugs to you through cyberspaces* <3!

and somehow I missed this reply, so I deserve the same smack on the hand ♥
my best friend, Andi, said my singing has a "shoegaze" quality to it. X3 I didn't realize that's a whole genre of music, but that was very flattering. she's an amazing singer — she reminds me of Free Dominguez from Kidneythieves. She's an amazing musician and has been playing piano since she was a child. She used to wake me up when I'd sleep over at her house, playing piano in the middle of the night. I'd wake up and wander into the den wondering if a ghost had started up on the piano... :D
but she's not the type to BS a person if they aren't at least okay at something, so the fact that she's been trying to give me tips on strengthening my singing voice has been really encouraging for me — I've seen her tell people to just give it up, and though I hadn't tried to sing until this year, I felt really good about her taking the time to sit me down and try to help me understand how to improve. ♥
I don't think I could ever move on to an accoustic... it's just too much guitar for me! :D
but you have the most beautiful voice, Lily-- I tell people that all the time. So I admire you, and I really appreciate your perspective. I know you'll always be honest. I'll work harder on being able to play and sing at the same time, and I'll try to strengthen my lungs! ♥

Somehow it never occurred to me to turn them on, let them heat up, then let them cool down if they're too hot. Derp. So I learned to sort of plug them back in and re-heat them if they get too cool. It's a balancing act but I guess it just takes practice.
