Nearly five years or so ago Simba printed me out some reference of Anubis pictures, expressing some interest in being 'costumed' that way. It was around the same time I did the 'Cobra Cubmander' and the 'Iron Lion' piece, out in California, and while I thoroughly enjoyed those I never seemed to get around to the Anubis one.
Recently he brought it up again in passing as a Halloween costume idea, and I thought heck, now is as good a time as any to finally do that for him.
I really enjoyed doing this one as I'd found a lot of inspirational type stuff to do his costume/mask, I figured it'd take me eons to color and shade but actually went rather quickly...which is a good thing since I still have A LOT of other stuff to do.

The jewel details, mask, spear...everything is among the best I've seen you do, so my deepest applause for this work.
So that's Simba under all that? He makes an excellent Anubis!

At one point in my life and if I can ever find it again, I actually wore an ank around my neck...but I've had my tags ever since Boz and I got together. I do have some serious interest in many Egyptian items. Ironically I just purchased a statue of Anubis for my diorama that in scale would be over 12 foot high!
Oh great, more reasons for furries to wank over Anubis. It's always Anubis Anubis Anubis! XD J/K. Seriously, though, that's a killer outfit, esp with the bits of blue (lapis?) offsetting the black/gold. Usually I think Anubis is overrated, but that's a great look, very commanding. I'm biased towards short shirts, but oh well XD
