In 1967 with the arrival of the league's first expansion team, the Montana Howlers, a new tradition was born. The first preseason game in league history was played in Treasure State Arena, and the match against the Plymouth Taproots and the Montana Howlers was such a success, the FBA decided to open every new season with a game in Montana. In 1983, with the addition of new teams to the league, a whole week of preseason games was introduced to the schedule, but in honor of that memorable match, the schedule always puts the first game on Halloween night in Montana.

This year, the Biloxi Voodoo, the new name for one of the oldest franchises in the league, are coming to the forests just outside Biliings for the 29th annual "Howlereen" invitational match. And with rookies Simon Thal (Aurochs, C, MON), Aesop Tecumseh (Northern Pike, G, MON), Bali Mahi (Peacock, G, BLV) and Kinny DeMarcus (Hairy Bush Viper, G/F, BLV) about to get their first chance to play on an FBA court, it will be a thrilling start to the FBA's 51st season.
