In my most recent posting some folks have wondered whether Spike has crush on Rarity and follows her around in my Equestria dreamscape the way he does in the show. Short answer, yes. Long answer, yyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeesssssssss! And from this sketch one can get a feeling why the little dragon is smitten by her. I might do a finished color of this one someday.

She actually dressed (dresses?) like this in your dreamscape? Or is this just a semi-anthro interpretation?
Yes, this is more a less a scene from a dream I had where I walked into Carousel Boutique and she was trying on an ensemble very much like this. From the dumbfounded look on my face she figured she had a hit.

Oh gods! This is so incredibly sexy. I would be willing to bet almost anything that this is a sight that any stallion in Ponyville would give his foreleg to see firsthoof. Kudos again for this one. Then again, so would Petina. Has she flirted with any of the Mane Six?

Well since this scene was a from a dream when just walked in on her as she trying on this ensemble I will say that from first hoof knowledge it does stop you in your tracks.

Oh she's flirted with Rarity on several times and has even seen her in outfits like this. I can assure you that Petina has penciled Rarity a place on the list "Ponies I want to bang before I die", and Petina probably considers Rarity the most likely one she might succeed at getting in the sack.
Of course she's flirted with Twilight if nothing else just to watch Twi's response to it.
She thinks Applejack would be a great work out, but does not hold out much chance for success. She's also eyeballed Big Mac a few times to and licked her chops.
Pinkie Pie is possibly in her book especially if one was just looking for a fun afternoon in the sack. However she's made no strong moves in her direction.
Rainbow Dash has certain tomboy charm to her. Very much a diamond in the rough. Dash and Petina are fairly good friends now since the pegasi mare spends a fair bit of time hanging around our cottage. It is not much of spoiler but the next dream arc after Applebloom's deals a lot with Petina, Carousel and Rainbow Dash.
Fluttershy is just so sweet and adorable, Petina hasn't really done any flirting with her.

Wait... You walked in on her like this? You lucky bastard. Is there a reason she looks like she's trying to seduce you? If it was me, I would have probably done the whole " I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy" thing from Wayne's World. As for Petina, those conclusions really shouldn't be any surprise.

None? Not even so mildly that it looks like spending time with a friend? I'd suspect Petina would be much more cautious in her approach, but still pursuing the idea that "still waters run deep." (Fandom has depicted her everything from dom to sub.)

Then I take it the common fannon version of Cloud Kicker hasn't made an appearance in your dreamscape, or Petina doesn't want her for some reason, (too easy?).

Well done. She's beautiful.

completely off topic, but how do you sketch? do you do some kind of preliminary preparation (bluelines, 8H pencil?) or are your hands so steady, and your mind so clear that you can just do this kind of stuff right off the rip? I was just wondering as natural sketching is one of my weak-spots.
Hmmm, this is an interesting question. Let me see if I can answer it in a way that makes sense. I do not use any very hard lead pencils like 8H or blue line pencils for my preliminary work. I just start with the 2B soft pencil since I have a very light hand. In fact I have had to learn to press hard so my pencil lines are nice and clear for the scanner.
In most cases for figures I will do a very basic under sketch that lays in a very, very rudimentary proportions of the figure, along with the general flow of action and where the character is oriented relative to the ground and sky. IE. the perspective. Once I am certain I have the right number of limbs and they are pointed in the right direction, more or less, I will start laying in the where basic rib cage, pelvis, joints, skull and where the eyes will be. After that I will proceed toward a finished figure. If I have everything in place it will usually proceed to the finished product in pretty quick order. Shading is handled last.
For inanimate objects I often will use a slightly different approach. Almost every object will provide you the necessary tools for drawing it correctly. The trick is spotting the correct things. If the object is from photo reference I attempt to determine what make this object appear different from other similar objects. Why does a Ford Mustang not look like a Chevy Camaro. Once I have determine those feature I will use them to try and make an accurate representation of the object on the paper.
If the object is entirely in my head then I will attempt visualize it my mind as completely as I am capable of doing. Then I will try to rotate the object in my mind once again attempting to understand what makes it appear distinctive. Same goes for figures and characters to some degree. Often if it is from a dreams or my imagination I will run the scene forward and back as if I was editing a film. Trying to remember events and deciding where is the best place to take a still image of the moment.
In a few cases I will just draw a line on the paper and stare at it. I have no idea what I am looking for in this case. Then I will draw whatever appears on paper. The sketch Mavek http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8321783/ I had no clue what I was going to draw so I made a line and let grow from there.
Does any of this help.
