It's a joke that goes way back to the community's infancy...*giggles*
When our numbers were much smaller, having a Marci badge marked you as a Babyfur and that you were a part of the community as a whole, and would act according to the Guidelines at public events and conventions.
The term "Card Carrying Babyfur" still carries forward today for new BF's who get their first Marci badge drawn of their character.
