I took my new camera to work the last few days, taking a few shots of planes and catching coworkers unaware. Anyway, as I waited for a plane to arrive, I caught a glimpse of a large, strange-looking plane on its final approach to the runway. After it landed, it turned around and headed to the cargo area.
I knew when I saw it that this plane was not American. When I later reviewed the photo and saw the lettering on the livery, I thought it was Greek, but the flag on its tail is from Russia. Dang -- heck of a long way! I wonder what it came to Denver for.
And this is not the best my camera can do. I had to crop and resize the actual photo so that FA would not resize it. Original was 3072x2304 and about 1.5 Megs. And I was nowhere *near* that sucker -- gotta love that 12x optical zoom. :D

Yeah, its the largest cargo plane there is, It was built in the 80s and can carry up to 150 tons of cargo. It even has its own crane inside so it can load and unload on its own. And it shows how reliable such "low tech" can be compared to our modern, computer overloaded airplanes.
Acutally, that only looks like a an-124. The Largest (and there are 3 IIRC) is the An-225. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antonov_An-225
It is....massive

That's the worlds largest plane! Seariously, it's russen and it's got the highest load carring ability. A few space interest groups were interested in that plane to be the carrier of shuttles to higher altitudes to save weight and fuel of getting into space. I believe it's some where over 500 tons it can carry into the air (800 tons if I'm remembering right!)
