You have to start unpopping them from the beginning and you should have no problems. I remember how painful it was when I did nothing once, and since then I never forget. When the plane rises at first and when it nears the landing.

The yawning trick doesn't work for me, I'd have to actually yawn, not pretend to yawn. I've found that if you move your lower jaw very far to one side and the other it lets a bit of air through your sinuses and evens out the pressure. You'll hear a slight whistling sound inside your ear when it happens.
