Weed isn't "trendy", it's been used for almost the entirety of human history. And for most of the people who smoke, it has absolutely nothing to do with "oh, this is a DRUG! I'm gonna do it and be COOL now.", or any kind of "movement". It is simply an enjoyable pasttime that some people partake in, or use to expand their consciousness.

Finally, being anti-trendy is a type of trend, btw. Oh shit, paradox.

I didn't claim to be anti-trendy. I'm not going to refute the holier-than-thou comment, other than to say that it's not that I think I'm particularly superior, society as a whole has just never been less impressive than today.

Although to say that weed isn't a trend (admittedly a long lasting one, but a trend nonetheless) is insulting to the intelligence of both of us. Some older users are down to earth about it, but most of the ones younger than 30 or so do everything they can to make sure they're seen doing it. Don't give yourselves too much credit, you're trendy, you don't have to.

You are mistaken. Weed is not a trend. It's long history and the fact that it isn't exactly seen as "fashionable" or "hip" to smoke, except by people who already smoke contradict the very definition of trendy.
Now, you may have run across some silly children who think that drugs are cool, and that by doing drugs -or for that matter alcohol and cigarettes- they become cool themselves (for the record, I do not think anyone under the age of 18 should consume weed), but you should not let that taint your opinion of the rest of us, because that is faulty logic and narrow-minded thinking. That would be like saying that music is trendy because people like to share music with each other, or that alcohol is trendy because people like to talk about it and drink together. You are misunderstanding the nature of what people are doing.

I am under 30, and when I smoked and shared the activity with others, it was because I enjoyed what I was doing, and wanted to share my merriment. I wanted to find like-minded people to share something enjoyable with. There is a drug culture, and it has nothing to do with "being seen doing it" but with sharing something enjoyable with others of a similar mind. Simple as that.

You have to accept that a large part of your "community" is dumb kids or even adults trying to be cool. Your particular affiliation with the stuff is of no real consequence, if you want to think of yourself as an except to the rule then fine but it doesn't change it. And for the record, alcohol is hugely glorified due to its ability to get somebody drunk and foolish, so that's not a great example. People don't celebrate it because of the occasional heart-healthy glass of wine.

Too many people act like being an avid stoner is some big accomplishment. I don't know your stake in this but don't pretend like your group is primarily people who merely share a common interest. Most of my family are stoners and the ones that legitimately just enjoy it don't make a point of plastering "420" on things. But my younger sister who tries desperately to convince me that she has a Bob Marley lighter because she likes his music would fit right in, here.

Getting a group of close friends together and smoking is a great way to relax and enjoy the evening. well sports are pointless and I don't watch TV if I'm going to do anything I'm going to sit at home I'm a smoke weed and I'm going to smoke hookah it's relaxing. That's kind of stupid, and a waste of time. Do you denounce everything that serves you no purpose, or just things that others enjoy? Not everyone who has stress blows it out of proportion, and just because someone has more than you do does not necessarily mean they are blowing anything out of proportion. A superiority complex is not when a person feels superior- it is when they pretend to be superior as a defense mechanism for feelings of inferiority. If you had an inferiority complex alone, you would not present the way you do.
