Sorry if I sound stupid here but I really don't know much about rats and seeing what I see is a little concerning...what is that at the base of the tail that looks like a bulge or growth? Is that normal for male rats? I never really paid too much attention as I've never had a rat myself, but I do have a fondness for animals no matter what species. I took care of a rat once and I never saw that on the rat I took care of but if it is normal then I probably just wasn't paying close-enough attention.

Proportionally, rats have one of the biggest genitals to body ratio. :V

I've mostly had other rodents as pets and never a rat myself. I can't believe I never noticed with the male rat I took care of years ago for my step-dads late friend.

They do differ in size from rat to rat. And Berlioz's hairlessness really makes them pop out more than normal, too, I think.
