Acalan's arranged marriage into the lion nobility was for the most part a success. The noblewoman in question was pretty and it turned out they genuinely liked eachother, something few couples in their position could say. However lions had their strange rituals; dressing up in strict clothes and show up on large gatherings of other noblemen, which they argue is for the enjoyment, though more often than not is a contest to show off the most.
Acalan never understood the reasons for it. The clothes for the masquerade were as far away from panther clothing as they possibly could be, not fit for the heat and damp weather of the jungles. Something he does miss.
