Unnamed Southern Sergal this time.
You can say about them what you want, but the earthy tones sure are more enjoyable for painting.

There is distinct subtle shading on the snout and near the eyes, adding a layer of him (shall we assume male?) that he is looking on something bright, but not bright enough to hide or hurt the eyes. Perhaps a bonfire, or into a forge - not bright enough to be white but, exceptions are made. The thick pelt suggests cold season, and the lines in the nostrils give a hint of age, but not enough to be out of the prime of youth and into deep maturity.
The pelt is marvelously well done, not enough to pull the individual strands, but thick enough to have texture. It really adds a smile to see it, even when getting into the thicker hair along the back. Though I prefer more 'mane' like structures, this is well done, and adds further leaning to 'mid-youth, approaching 'maturity'. The eyes, though, drawing back, are still bright - just a hint more would add a 'wetness' that eyes have. Down, I like the suggestion of lighter color under the chin, and on a full body, I would expect him to have light mark on the chest, belly, underarms, thighs, pubic fluff, and undertail, to go with and compliment the sandy shade. A natural coloration that would be attractive.
He is slightly smiling, a hint of amusement, but has a look of someone remembering better times, or, at least, thinking of a pleasant experience he lived through. He's distant, in thought, reminded by the light.
This is the story I see in your picture.
