I wasn't to sure how you've feel about the spikes. I'm not to sure how I feel about the spikes. Maybe it'd be better to keep them theoretical.
Speaking of which. I would think the spikes don't bother other cactus people but would they always prick non-cactus people? Can they...ummm...turn them off some how, or retracted?

Well for sure the Cacti people are amused to their own spikes, as far as retracting their spikes that would be impossible.
Pretty much the only way they can touch non-cactus people is f they turn them into cactus people. Yeah I know that sucks, but that's just how they work.
