This is how I draw heads. Usually most artists either sketch or use cross-hair/contour lines to draw heads. I don't do that. I'm a unusual artist. :3

I never actually use those lines or guides, I just do it like you do. :P
Until I realized it is an unreliable method.
So I moved on to head and center line sketches and it is SO MUCH EASIER. :3
I do use guild lines though.
