After attending the New York State Falconry Association meet last week, I had the awesome experience of meeting several Harris' Hawks and realized how COOL they are. Seriously, Harris' Hawks are awesome. They have gorgeous plumage and an interesting personality (including screaming angrily at any creature they seem suspicious). After returning, I was inspired to create a pendant based on these beautiful birds.
This pendant is a little bit smaller than my other wing pendants, mostly because I find that the bigger, bulkier pendants don't sit as well on the neck. The wings at the widest point are about 3.5 inches, and the dangling tail feather is 2.25 inches. It's hand-carved and shaped from 7-oz. leather (bottom layer) and 4-oz leather (top layer and dangling feather). The chain is a 'gunmetal' chain, though I may also make sterling chain pendants if there's interest!

Buh! Sold already! I would've bought this in a heartbeat....
Harris Hawks have perhaps become one of my single most favorite raptor out there since I started working with them. They are truly amazing, and extremely smart birds. I wish I could rant and rave about them for hours on end. You've done an excellent job on the plumage. They aren't flashy or striped like some other birds, but the colors are outstanding.

Priority works for me!
I have an odd question though: If I were able to get a good enough picture of one of our bird's tail feathers (one of them has an odd, sort of striped pattern on one of his deck feathers), do you think you could do a custom tail feather on one of these?

Well I have just passed my falconry test so I hope to work with more in the future to come. I am glad you have had such a good experiance with them. Also, not sure if you make them anymore but I would like to get one of the leather red tail feathers when I get my red tail.
