'With a plopping sound, the hose was removed from Princess Luna. She had grown remarkable, becoming entirely immobile and unable to move more than her wings and perhaps her ears. While she was padded greatly with fat, her stomach had finally reached its limit and didn't want to hold any more.
Celestia just smiled at her sister, who almost looked like she was her very own moon now. "Wonderful Luna! And you even made it a few hours in advance!" She pressed against the taught belly sphere of her sister, and indeed, besides the layer of fat, it was full up and didn't give in.
"You should really listen to what I say too. You almost look like you didn't expect this to happen." the mare of the sun chuckled. "But all the ponies wanted to see a lot more of you in season three, and truely, you deliver now. You now can play a really big role. So don't frown like that."
Celestia had indeed promised her a 'bigger role' and 'more of her', but never had she expected it to go this way.
Either way, the ponies would now be able to see a lot of their favorite princess now. And maybe more, if they only wished it enough.'

I think you did a real good job show how soft Luna is. The coloring displays that visual so well that I want to just run up and hug her for an hour or two. Maybe spend the night on her back as I help her get any itches she has.
Also, I think there's another reason why Celestia did this to her besides wordplay. I did hear a few rumors that Luna once tempted Celestia to eat quite a bit of cake. She had to exercise quite a bit in such little time before she had to appear in Season 2's finale Luna says she didn't think she'd go for so much cake, but Celestia didn't quite believe her on that.
Of course, these are just rumors. Who knows what goes behind those castle walls when no one is looking~
