So a while back there was a heraldry contest in amtgard and I decided I wanted to enter. Some of you MAY remember my old coat of arms for amtgard, if not, here it is

While I liked my old coat of arms, it was made when I had yet to really flesh out my amtgard character and really didn't reflect me as an amtgardian well. For the contest, I decided it was time to give my own coat of arms a proper update and so did a great deal of research into symbolism in heraldries and such to create this.
The Meaning Behind It All
My character's name is Rioka, she is a selkie/japanese wolf demon hybrid.
While her bloodline goes farther back (naturally) her coat of arms centers greatly around her most prominent ancestors. The Seal skin and the Wolf skin represent her last pure blooded ancestors in her bloodline. These were the Selkie and Japanese wolf who first became mates in her family. The flags above each represent a generation dividing her and her "original" ancestors, each colored in the coat of the ancestor she descends from. The red skull and shield represent her current generation and thus is her personal crest. While the shield is styled in a very western European style, the image of her wolven form is heavily based on Japanese style, all to represent her blended heritage. The skull is a tradition among her family and is meant to be a representation of the individuals inner self. More often she will represent her heraldry with just this red skull, rather then displaying her full coat of arms.
