I'm gonna give you the holy grail for good movements.

That's it. To make sure all movements don't look robotic, the trick is to add extra drawings at the start or the end of an action. That way there's different timing.
Good example would be to maybe add a few more drawing inbetween the first few of the hammer animation, that way it will give the feel of being heavy.
Even just practice with a ball anim. I guarantee you will thank me. :D
