"The forgotton warrior comes home to no glory. His reason for living no longer has any meaning for him. His country he forught to protect has abandoned him. In a world that no longer has any use for him, he struggles to survive. Peace is alien to him. He lives only for war. He prays for the day when he dies in battle. He hopes as he watches the [something] looking for another war. Until that day arrives, he is only a redundant soldier, cast down and forgotton."
Sorry, I could not make out one of the words.

Yeah..., I remember, for a short time, back in the late 80s, I lived on the streets of SanFrancisco. I also remember all the vets living on the streets. I *also* remember how they were ignored on Veteren's Day, as well as any other day. BTW, I wasn't alone living on the street, so was my Vietnam Vet Dad at the time. Seems only Vets with money and homes were praised/loved/honored/etc... My Dad's long gone, and I have my own life. I am now a second class individual/business owner. My Dad died almost pennyless back in the early 90s, living in a low income apartment with other near pennyless Vets...
come home from a war...get a bunch of medals and an award ceremony...and then cast aside and forgotten....losing your home...your job...and the only thing you can think of is hoping that you get called back into service so you actually get remembered and get somewhat of a life back
its terrible....only thing worse is the medals and award ceremony and accepting some other awards for your friend or family member who didn't make it back or coming back with the knowledge that you may never walk again
government hypocrisy at its finest...sacrificing almost everything to protect your country and then being acknowledged for your sacrifices for 2 days of the year...memorial day and veteran's day
thats what I got from this...all in all...its a tragic truth that not all heroes get remembered

A documentry maker in the UK did a speical on the forgotten vets of the British Army. The Invisible wounded.
Ex soilders who fought hard for their country only to be forgotten when they get back.
they where being pushed aside or ignored beacuse of what they had been through or what they seen.
Many forget they are people too they need more help to adjust to a "normal" life.
