And now I'm stuck imagining that as they age, they adapt more powerful sources of energy to feed themselves between meals [like the adult here has graduated to being somehow coal-powered based on the nice smokestack-hat]. That probably isn't how it really goes, but it's just an odd little idea that popped into my head
