Continuing my experiments with PS on my laptop, digital ink and flat color. I hate how anything I do in PS takes roughly five times longer than if I just pulled out my markers or pencils, or even my paints. And I can't seem to stop shaking. At least with actual ink and a pen, I can disguise how jittery my lines look...

BUT my scanner would eat anything traditional that had these kinds of colors, and this looks a lot more professional that badly-corrected scans. Perhaps next time I'll compromise and hand-ink the drawing, then color it like this.

This looks a lot less painterly than most of my other PS work thus far. That's because I'm taking to doing a flat color, THEN mucking about with the shading. (Thanks, Lithe-Fider, for the tip!) I think I'll try two types of shading on this 1) my usual burn + texture/opacity swapped brushes and 2) attempt cel-shading, which I've never done before (except when working in Illustrator).

Some of you may be wondering at the strange blank spaces and color cut-offs? That's because I'm going to do a funky fire/cloud effect around the older!Shippos. (See here.) Now just to figure out how to do it...An how to do the stripes on the two eldest one's hakama?
