Bit of a trip.
Friggin' winglin' bastards takin' up two seats with their friggin' wings why don't they just friggin' fly if they got those friggin' big-ass wings I don't got no wings I gotta take the bus he don't gotta take the bus.
Anyway, yeah. That's Koor. He's a gargoyle. He's made of animate terra cotta. He's riding the bus. More backgrounds. Normally I'm modest about these things, but lately I've realized that a whole lot of y'all furry artists can't actually do this shit. That makes me feel special.
Just seems so easy to me. Straight lines. Living things, that's what's difficult for me. I spent more time on Koor than the background.
Also, why is it that when y'all draw clothing it's never got a pattern on it? Most people like to wear patterns. I put pin stripes on his shirt.
This is my study in reflection, B.T.W. It didn't start out that way, but I realized that I drew the bus with an almost hemicylindrical roof, kind of like an airstream trailer, or a stainless steel cigar tube, I thought there'd be a lot of strange reflections so I just went to town. Of course, airstream trailers don't have stainless steel on the inside, but whomever designed this weird-ass bus thought that'd look real spiffy. He also thought hardwood floors might lend a touch of class to public transportation.
And please, before you say anything, he is not from the show. Lord help me, I made up my own character.
EDIT, 12/17/07: Interesting fing: My monitor is so dirty that I saved this pic as a really bad J-Peg and didn't notice. It's a P.N.G. now, it's a little dimmer but it was too washed out anyway. Also, it's one megabyte now. I got cable, so that means that everyone else must have cable too. Everyone's all like, "O.M.G. P.N.G. is the best image format EVAR!" But I can't get Gimp to give me a P.N.G. smaller than one megabyte in size for a picture like this.
EDIT AGAIN: Alright, doesn't matter how quick your modem is, F.A. is too slow for this picture. Back to J-Peg we go, just darkened a little and compressed a little less.

I don't know. I made it up, but someone else may have thought of it before me. This guy's terra cotta, which is why he's green and so shiny. Terra cotta goylies are very proud of their mirror-smooth glazes and bright colors, they have a tendency to be very preening. They aren't as tough as granite or basalt gargoyles, but they are prettier, and can withstand much higher temperatures. All gargoyles in my world are pretty much fireproof, and one interesting attribute of theirs is that they don't conduct electricity.
Wow, really cool looking... I love the bus background. Somehow I get the feeling it's not really a bus, but an airship - which makes it even more funny to have a gargoyle with wings travel by airship :)
He looks a bit bored though... good look for a bus drive I guess - but somehow it feels like big gargoyle beast gone working drone ;)

Those are the cables that connect to the pantagraphs, actually. It's an electric airship/bus. Since I moved to a city what used them I've been kind of enthralled with the concept of electric buses. The cables what hold the pantagraphs down tend to stretch across the rear window, so I drew them in there to see if anyone would notice.

God, I can't get over how awesome you are ... the green reflection really gives a sense of how bright it is outside. I love the pipes and the riveted metal and the PERSPECTIVE and the diffused sheen on the hardwood ... GOD, man. I used to do stuff like this ... just experimental stuff, nothing of this caliber, but I must've lost my nerve or something. It really bugs me.
Wow, just wow. The detail in this, both the bus and the character, are impressive. It's leaving me curious about the rest of the bus, and imagining how it works, and where those pipes go.
The really cool thing is you're an artist who knows they're good, and actually is good, which is rare enough, but you don't seem condescending about it.
I always look forward to seeing a new picture from you in my inbox, no matter what the subject.

I've always been a fan of good backgrounds, and this one is wonderful. I love the design of the bus, the lighting, the clouds... and the faint green reflection. Very atmospheric. And if I say that it reminds me of a late 90s adventure game background, that's a high compliment.
Oh, and the gargoyle is cool too. Very nice design; he has a lot of character.

I notice you use alot of patches in your work, like on the seats in this example. Simple details like that just add a whole lot of character to a piece. So simple to do yet noone does it. Texure is just as much of a picture as is the lines that define the characters and adding these little details really boosts the quality of these pieces. Bravo once again.
Disregarding my claims of modesty, I'm prepared to admit I have the ability to make boring things interesting. Like buses.
It's a nice place though, my world. Ridiculously ornate dilapidated housing is plentiful, Men are beefy and penises are enormous, you can wear whatever you want and get away with it, be it loincloth or slashed doublet, and there's a sixty-year-old electric car in every garage.

Hehehe...he's cool. And I have to admit: when I first saw the inside of the bus, one of those trailer things IMMEDIATELY came to mind.
Gah, I have to start doing backgrounds again...even when I did comics that started STICKFIGURES they had backgrounds. I am so lazy now!

Wow I really like the detailing you put in the background. Especially the painstaking attention to detail that's apparent in the floorboards to how you use light and shadow. (Okay, okay so I have no idea what I'm talking about). But looking at this piece has been an enjoyable experience. It's apparent you spent a lot of time on it.
Oh and that gargoyle, I wonder what his story is. He looks bored or maybe just a tad snooty. Upper crust maybe? But then why does he have patches in his clothes?
I can't say how much I like this piece enough.
