often times i rarely do fan art of characters from stories and games i like because frankly, i never feel my style or skill does them justice. i'm always afraid that they'll come out without their characters and without their personalities... with my own in the place. part of the reasons i create my own characters is to put a piece of myself into the world, to understand it, to explore it, and make sense. representing other characters is like trying to get to know someone else by being in their place, instead of watching them. i fall hard and fast into parasocial relationships, as quiet as they may be, with many characters i watch and play. i feel inadequate to represent them in my own work...

...probably until now. i feel like my style or emotions are wider, more relateable to others, and freer to explore the feelings and ideas that these other characters and other parts of other selves have to offer me. (heay the lines are inexact and sloppy in some places. i'm getting a hang of sketching with a blue no-copy pencil.)
