It almost feels like Bast is separate from the background since I'm so used to him in the far less gritty and more colorful locations the rest of Dreamkeepers and Prelude occupy (like a cartoon character on top of a photo background). Though the way he is carrying himself he seems pretty detached from the setting and its inhabitant's mentally as well, so it adds to the effect.
