Pierce's muscles and bones
For a long time now, Pierce's wings have been bugging me with how they'd connect...
So, I am trying out a way to see if it could work.
This is Pierce so ya know: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/9253805/
I am working with his normal form. Once I get that down, then I'll try to do his were form.
For his wings, they are pretty much an extra pair of "arms", so I am treating them this way. Instead of having them right behind the first arms, they are now lower, though still slightly over-lapping. Since there is a bone going across human chests (clavicle), I decided to make the bone on the wing arms go up to the neck, so that muscle added will give the wings more strength. His pecs are divided into two, so each pec is smaller than human pecs. Yes, he does have 4 nipples because of this.
His rib cage is then elongated, having more ribs than a human, but also fewer abs because of the second pair of pecs. His pelvis is smaller, but has larger gluts (butt muscles) that extend down further on his legs, giving his legs more power.
His upper arms will be weaker than his wing-arms, so he'd not be able to beat a well-fit human in a wrestling match (assuming the human male has large muscles in his arms, because Pierce is well-fit). I may end up making his legs shorter, too, since his abdomen will be rather long.
My questions to you guys is: does this seem realistic? Or as realistic as it can be? Am I missing anything? Should something be changed?
Note: note all of the muscles on his back are shown. There's still more muscles for the wings so they have more strength. I also went super quick with this... so of course the bones look silly and scribbly.

This subject is of a lot of interest to me! I have the same problem with 'roths - or any dragon for that matter. When anatomical correctness is a huge pursuit, the details of skeleton and muscle are a must!
Though, from the sketch I'm having a bit of trouble seeing what's what. Or rather, what's an assembly of the wing and what's of the arm. I hate to ask, but could you color-code the seperation? Like, wing bits red arm bits blue or something.
My two initial thoughts are:
1) Obviously, you have to be very careful where the wings connect to the body in terms of balance. Having them a bit back does help prevent "droopy butt syndrome", but at the cost of lift and especially standing take-off. If you swing your finger through the air, it's a lot easier to have something tied be pulled by your finger than trying to balance something on your finger and push it. It could also make him have a very hard time getting his body up-right again for a landing. But, I like the idea!
2) His neck now has a lot more bones and muscle around it. This means less room for throat (not good for a carnivore) and blood supply (though I guess birds have pretty narrow necks). But, also consider that if his face is forward while standing, and in flight, he's gonna have to bend his neck 90 degrees if not more. Humans get what? 50 degrees at best? Food for thought.

Hmm, very good points... I'll move that bone from his neck then to somewhere else... or it's completely gone.
And I am the same with you! I like having my characters and creatures as realistic as I can get them. ;w;
So many things to think about. xD
and yeah, tomorrow I'll do the color code thingy.
I am hoping his tail will help with his balance, too. I hope it at least can do that. xD
BUT YES, ON TO MORE THINKING AND STUFF.
Thanks~
