Well, I figure I might as well get just *one* upload out there...seems only right, ya know? I arranged "Danny Boy" / Londonderry Air and played it out on the piano. I even wrote out more personal lyrics to go with it. Heh, I just haven't been satisfied with my recording voice quality, yet - I'm kinda chicken about singing out when I've got neighbors right next door, ya know?
Anyway, the lyrics are below. When I wrote them, I was keeping my horse, Ebony, about 150 miles away, and I could only visit her on weekends. On Sunday afternoons, as I was getting ready to leave, I would sing the song to her as I left.
O Ebony, I must, I must be goin'.
But it's okay - there's nothing here to fear.
I have to pay to keep you safe and growin',
And so today, I have to leave you here.
Please wait for me, 'tho time may very slowly go.
I will come home, and when I do, you'll know.
And we'll embrace 'neath starlight in the meadow.
O Ebony, O Ebony, I love you so.
Please wait for me, 'tho time may very slowly go.
I will come home, and when I do, you'll know.
And we'll embrace 'neath starlight in the meadow.
O Ebony, O Ebony, I love you so.
O Ebony, O Ebony, I love you so.
