With some species, using dried ice to burn the flesh can cause different-colored hair to sprout from the follicles, creating a 'fur tattoo'. Granted, the best examples are of white hair growing out of dark colored fur on, say, horses and cattle and such... but who's to say white bats don't produce darker fur from such brandings? :P

It'd be an interesting spin on things, regardless.
