The title reflects more then just what happens on the picture...
It is the third time I had the pleasure to create something smart for beautiful
This time she asked for a classic 50's pin up!
I love Gil Elvgren's work, so - naturally - I had to take the opportunity!
I came up with Elvgren-based pic, and Rainey liked it, but she had an adventure with an annoying dog that day, so she asked if I could tell the story...
I dressed and posed her as divine Marilyn and had the aggresive rottweiler interrupt the posing session. Rain approved the sketch, so I got to paper (because she values traditional over digital pictures). After some painting I got the &%$#$#&@ idea to experiment a bit with my watercolours that - as a general rule - do not tolerate mistakes... And I ruined the whole picture!
And got pissed off...
And had to start all over again... :/
Thought I would take it slow, but the situation got me so angry, I decided to skip sleeping until I am done.
Luckily for me, the disaster provet to do some good too.
I added some movement to the pose, tightened the composition and came up with the idea to die the rosettes lilac, so they matched the swimming suit nicely.
Anyhow - I am happy with the final effect.
And I will remember NOT TO EXPERIMENT while working on a commission!
Watercolour and acrylics on watercolour paper.

I'm not on dA. what isn't printed I trend to find in obscure picdumps. you can find real gems there sometimes... among the junk. :P
though I have a feeling many of them are reposted from dA.
oh. some time ago I found an old fashion magazine at the flea market. titled, "Die Dame", it's issue #1 from 1915. there are photos as well as painted references included. I photographed the pictured pages (you couldn't read the writing at that resolution, anyway, and my scanner sucks). I could email them to you. :)
