I will tell ya that they suck to install too. XD I work for Peterbilt Motors assembly plant in TX and have had to install them on the line. Some of them can get huge depending on the truck and whether they are installed on the front or all the way around. Very cool picture you were able to catch, I will say. ^^
We are running a few more disc brakes now than we used to, but we still seem to sell more of the drum brakes, especially on some of the larger, cheaper trucks. Semi brakes are quite heavy, so your estimate is probably pretty close. I haven't worked in that part of the plant in some time so I'm really rusty on them. XD
It's a dead a axial on tri-axal 53 foot trailer. The semi that pulls the trailer is a Volvo, cant recall the model but it has the same break system as the trailer. Which is a Bendix caliper, rotor and matched coefficient pads. Its a good system, stops trucks about %40 sooner!
Giggle like it too here someone talk semi **cough** any way after through viewing i should have known it was a Volvo **smacks forehead** sigh too me it the axle mounts that should have given it away that also looks like the set up stile that's on my truck since it used too be a fleet truck
It is great car just needed a lot. When I sold the car I didn’t lose and money, just broke even. Had a hell of a lot of time into that car, replaced cylinder head, changed condenser and receiver dyer and evacuated and recharged the system, new battery, new radiator, new accessory fan, new fan clutch, new serpentine belt, I played around with the Vanos but never got it to work right, replaced the center shaft bearing, new fog lights, new thermostat with cast aluminum housing, new water pump to replace stock unit and replaced fuel tank. The car was cold blooded, I thing it was the cam sensor but I didn't want to put another cent into the car.
