Did this yesterday while listening to the excellent soundtrack from the cult classic Robin Of Sherwood, possibly THE best interpretation of the Robin mythos ever made, and one of the first to shirk the Errol Flynn image. The sketch is of Herne The Hunter, one of the old pagan gods, and basically the Big Good of the series.

Oh, Herne isnt in any of the books, he was created for the Robin of Sherwood TV series from 84. One of the best interpretations. There also isnt really a definitive Robin Hood book, since the stories are so old, the closest you can come to an original are the remaining wandering ministrel songs that the character is based on.
Oh. I don't recall that Robin Hood series from the 1980s as it more than likely conflicted with a similar show called "When things were Rotten" which was a comedy farce, written by Rob Reiner and Mel Brooks. It was a parody of the Robin Hood stories full of crude humor and loads of anachronisms. I might be able to find parts of Robin of Sherwood on You Tube. Thanks for getting me to Think and do research.
