On a mountain run? Bottom of the driver's door facing forward. Seeing suspension and steering action during fast maneuvers is awesome. Just sayin'. Where you've got it now looks like it'll grab some cool shots. I'll be interested to see some videos! I'd love to get me one'a those.
Another awesome angle would be low on the front corner of the bumper in front of the tire facing rearward.
And if you were like me and had a giant, obnoxious exhaust on your car I'd say mount the camera on the rear bumper to grab an epic sound clip. But maybe we'll have to do that with mine if I can come down and visit again. ^^

There's a lot of guys in the Subaru clubs up in Connecticut with GoPro cameras. They used to go out and grab some killer videos all the time. But apparently CT cops have gotten wise to the fact that if you have a camera suctioned onto your car you're probably up to no good, so they've been using that as a "probable cause" excuse to pull them over and hassle them about their exhausts, or tints, or whatever else.

watch a few episodes from the Dukes of Hazzard show from the seventies. good reference for car shots. as a film maker I use shots from there often...
