The second still life of my Introductory Painting Class. So my professor at the time was obsessed with limited palette. For this still life we could create it all on our own, using personal objects that were important to us, and we could abstract them and the background however we saw fit. BUT, the catch was we had to pick a limited color array and stick with it.
Well, lucky for me the color palette didn’t end up being much of an issue. You see, there are many things I love in this life but one of the definite top three is the Silent Hill Franchise. All the movies, all the games (and yes I mean all of them) totally make my world go round. So I decided early on that I wanted to paint a Silent Hill-esque background to throw all my lil treasures in. I had to redo the background twice before I was happy with it, and before I even began painting in all the other stuff. This painting was totally down to the wire, like, finished the morning of critique down to the wire.
Anyways, the objects are:
My sword from when I was a practitioner of the German broadsword style with my reenactment troupe. Its name is Dent de Loup (Tooth of the Wolf in French) and is a one-handed knightly sword from Hanwei. This baby took a beating and is still in great shape.
The doll is my R. Pi Piposdoll Charlotte model. Her name is Eve and is a little jewel. She isn’t really all cracked like that but I wanted her to fit with the scenery.
My bellydance skirt, had it for years. I’ve been teaching myself to bellydance since I was 13 and still adore it (though I’m usually a little too busy to practice these days)
The big white thing is my white fox tail, I got it a little over a year ago and I pamper it constantly. Yes, it is a real fox tail and while I cannot speak for the way in which its owner lived or died, and that I’m not even totally okay with that, I can say it is a cherished possession and I honor it and its owner’s memory.
The last thing is of course my little Pyramid Head plushie. While his hand did actually fall off like that once it’s been sewn back on and I have since loved the crap out of him. He sits on my bed right next to my pillow. My boyfriend Woolf deals with it ;P
I also threw in the Halo of the Sun and some nice rusted bars for effect. Like I said, Silent Hill is a hugely huge part of my life.
