This was an interesting assignment. We had to take elements of another famous artist’s work (two artists actually), one of which would specialize in representational work, and the other of which would be an abstract artist, then combine them both in a painting in a way that was unique to create our own work of art. Kinda sucked because we couldn’t choose the artists, but then again that probably would have been too much hassle. So, the blue jagged sky was inspired by Clyfford Stills’ work (abstract), and the crazy tree thing was inspired by Lisa Sanditz (representational), who I am convinced was a hippie child.
At the time I was head over heels in love with Lungle’s world of Rum, and the Thrish and Rex species which inhabit it (seriously go check them out). So I wanted to create one of my own to use in the painting. The lil black figure is the result. Her name is Narcissa, a Pheasant Rex, and man is she a posh little Lolita bitch. Totally adore her. She was super fun to add to the painting.
