The character is Ryu the Horned Owl real name- Ryu Nakanishi from Gatchaman also known as Tiny Harper from Battle of the Planets. He is a favourite character of mine because he had one of the coolest ships in Cartoons- the God Phoenix![/i]

Only Ryu could ever fly her properly pulling off some serious impressive flying and death defying manoeuvres! He is seen here standing on God Phoenix's shiny nose cone.

In the original Gatchaman and BotP 'Tiny' Ryu is generally depicted as bumbling comic relief, far more than even Keyop. In the 94 OVA and the unfortunately cancelled reboot movie Ryu is depicted as older, serious and far more of a Bruiser than in the early seasons of Gatchman/BotP- far more of a Tank and that's how  Cureboltium has done him here for me; mature, massive and certainly not bumbling!
