That is why i love my little 242 I6 gas engine. Easy to maintain and it won't kill you if you neglect it

I might be wrong but isn't that 4.0 JEEP engine? When it comes to gassers I have always liked the Ford 300 straight six but my neighbor has a 242 and it has never let her down.

It's an AMC engine (Mine has a Chrysler control unit) that AMC put in all sorts of models. Thing's indestructible, i heard of someone cracking the oilpan open on a trail and driving it back to his trailer! Only issues with this engine is the typical piston knock or lifter tick that is basically a characteristic of this engine, Iron block with aluminum pistons and horribly designed lifters. Also they can get heatsoak.

Thats not too bad, every engine has its little things. The worst of them has to be the olds 350 diesel. It is a gas block they decided to make into a diesel and you just imagine the problems.
