Wow, beautifully done! You have a very "etchy" like style that I really enjoy...and I very much like the difference in textures between the fur and the eyes and nose! It really makes such an authentic and realistic feel.
Do, however, watch your highlights! I feel like the fox is seperate from the background because there is such warm, strong light on on it, bringing it to the forefront, but at the same time we see none of that light in the background, where it should be hitting the trees and the snow, and connecting the character with its surroundings.
Other than that, masterfully done. :) You also have a great grasp at how a fox looks...I always have the toughest time with their faces, being more familiar with wolves myself!! XD Can't wait to see more from you!

Odd enough, I followed the reference as best as I could...and tje BG was 90% like that, just a few tones of color. A base light blue, a darker blue, an almost black blue for the trees and an almost gray color in some of the snow. @_@
