“Hmmmm… this is different…”
Unusual dreams weren’t unheard of for psychic type pokemon… especially teenage psychic types who usually had to deal with their powers and their hormones at the same time. Due to her little… accident having stunted her growth so badly Tabitha didn’t have to worry too much about hormones but she was no stranger to unusual dreams This one however felt vastly different then her usual nightmare about ending up even more childish looking or her deepest wish of growing a few feet and starting to fill out with womanly curves.
The little Gothita found herself in a grand ballroom made with white marble, polished wood floors, high ceilings, crystal chandeliers that seemed to glow, and with gold and finery inlaid everywhere it could possibly be inlaid making it sparkle in the soft light… which just made the thick silence and low hanging mist filling the vast room all the more disturbing. It wasn’t so much ominous as it was… anticipating something. Tabitha brushed off her robin’s egg blue dress and looked around once more. It would be unlady like to shout to see if there was anyone here… but she was getting impatient as she opened her mouth to call out…
And was promptly silenced by what sounded like a string quartet launching into a fast paced bit of music, the bouncing notes echoed through the empty room. Before Tabitha could do anything in response a pair of large double doors slowly swung open on unnaturally smooth moving hinges as a familiar figure slowly minced into the room. Tabitha’s cute, childish face immediately slumped into an annoyed frown as the figure slowly walked in waving her hand idly to the music as it swelled.
Tall, buxom, and beautiful were the three words to describe the Gothitelle before her as the older woman had features and beauty only money could buy. Her flawless skin shined in the dim light, showing no signs of wrinkles or her true age and her jet black hair was long and luscious with sapphires tipping the traditional eight juts of it sticking out that all Gothitelle’s had. The jewels matched her cold and calculating eyes and her extravagant blue ball gown with the low cut neckline to further accent her cleavage. A slight smile played on her thick lips as she looked down at the smaller psychic as Tabitha greeted her with a simple curt response.
“Hello Mother.”
“Hello dear Tabitha, I thought you’d be happier to see me.”
“No, never have been for the past eight or so years to be honest… of course I wouldn’t say that if you were my real mother so please excuse the comment.”
The taller psychic looked genuinely surprised by that as she stepped back a little and opened her mouth to protest, but Tabitha cut her off “My real mother would never appear anywhere, dreams or otherwise, without the most extravagant display of self-worship she can possibly manage. She makes her lesser personal assistants carry a red carpet around just for that. So please, let us dispense with the charades and get right to business. Who are you and why are you in my dreams?” Tabitha summed up, glaring angrily at the imposter as she put her hands on her hips for emphasis.
The shocked Gothitelle stared at Tabitha with her mouth agape for a moment before coughing softly and regaining her composure “Not bad for a girl who wets her bed every week.” She said snidely, making the gothita go bright red and make a shocked sound, before giving a light and mocking laugh “Oh yes I know about that and several other secrets you have… I also have enough memories to play as your dear mother… though as you’ve picked out not perfectly.” She gave a light dismissive shrug “My employer thought this form would help distract you during the match… shows what little he knows though. After all his last attempt at using a mother got him beaten by a dragonite…”
“Match? I’m not going to fight you!”
“Oh I didn’t mean a fight my dear little one…”
Tabitha let out an undignified squeak of surprise as she suddenly felt a weight on her arm. Looking she found what it took her a few moments to recognize as a duel disk made for her size with a few engraved hearts on the polished silver surface and a deck waiting in the slot. Flipping through it she found it was her deck down to the last card. Looking up to demand to know how this was possible she found her fake mother was sporting one as well, but large, extravagant, and in gold. The older psychic laughed softly “Well you know little one… always go for the best.” She said lightly, smirking.
“… so you can mimic my mother…”
“Yes… now then, the only way for you to leave this dream is to beat me in a duel.”
“Very well then, I shall accept your challenge. Though I refuse to call you mother…”
“Fine then, just call me Patricia~ Game on!”
“Defend yourself!”

“Age before beauty little one, not that you had either~” Patricia said softly, adding the comment under her breath. making Tabitha wince as she remembered how her mother made comments like that about everyone she consider less than herself. Drawing her first card she smiled “Perfect~ I start by summoning my Allure Queen LV3~” she cooed as a young female figure appeared. She was dressed in an intricate black dress with a red corset like garment along with a regal black hat and a gold topped scepter in one hand as she balanced a fireball in her other (500/500).
“But what is nobility without well trained servants? I activate Double Summon letting me normal summon again… so I play Queen’s Bodyguard~” suddenly a trio of tough looking men in extremely intricate suits, one in black flanked by two in wine red, appeared. They had red shades covering their eyes and held matching gold handled swords as they took up defensive positions around the Allure Queen (1700/1200) “And while they’re in play you can’t attack her~ I’ll set one card and end my turn.” A facedown appeared as Tabitha bowed softly “My move then…”
Pulling her card she looked over her hand for a moment before Patricia laughed “I activate my face down Light of Intervention! Now neither of us can set any monsters!” she called as her trap card revealed itself. “… that is quite fine with me. I shall start with my field spell. Sanctuary in the Sky!” Tabitha called as she slipped a card into her field card slot and a light enveloped the ballroom. When it cleared they were standing on a thick, fluffy white cloudbank and a beautiful roman style temple of purest white marble was floating behind Tabitha.
“Now battle damage to the control of fairy type monsters will be reduced to zero… and while YOU may not have any…” Tabitha allowed herself a slight smirk “I am quite prepared. I play Nova Summoner in attack mode!” this utterly bizarre thing that looked like a wreath or orange crystal wrapped in blue tinted metal bands with a golden rig on the top and small wings appeared (1400/800) “And I shall have him attack your Queen’s Bodyguards!” she called as the strange creature flew at the three armed men… only to be easily and ruthlessly cut down.
The Sanctuary glowed as it negated any damage and Tabitha smiled “Normally he would let me search out a light, fairy type with 1500 or less attack points… but since my sanctuary is in play instead I can bring out my deck’s star…” there was a brief flash of light on Tabitha’s side of the field before an odd but majestic looking monster appeared. It initially appeared to be a centaur, a humanoid upper body attached to a pure white horses body, but it was nothing like the wild creatures of Greek myth. It was covered in multiple sets of wings draped over it like a cloak. For another it was wearing blue and gold armor suited for a warrior of heaven as it held it’s sword and shield aloft (1900/1400).
“Meet Airknight Parshath!” Tabitha trilled proudly, her voice becoming adorably squeaky as she did so. Patricia looked unimpressed “Hmmmm, I would have thought you’d gotten over wanting a pony by now.” She idly commented making Tabitha puff her cheeks lightly in annoyance “Airknight Parshath! Attack those bodyguards!” she shouted as the fairy reared up and charged, easily dispatching all three of the bodyguards despite their attempts to flank and outmaneuver him.
Tabitha LP: 8000 Patricia LP: 7800
“And when Parshath deals damage I am allowed to draw a card…” Tabitha said pulling a card off her deck “So I shall set two cards and end my turn. You may go.” She finished with a curtsy as Patricia drew. “Hmmmm… I shall set one card…” a facedown card appeared in her spell and trap card zone “And summon my Nimble Musasabi!” there was a sudden chittering sound as a monster appeared… a tiny flying squirrel with a manic looking on its face (800/100) “I’ll set one card… then have Musasabi attack your little pony!” she called making Tabitha blink in confusion. With a deranged squeak the rodent flew right at Parshath… and was easily shattered making Partricia wince as her lifepoints dropped.
Tabitha LP: 8000 Patricia LP: 6700
Tabitha tilted her head “Was there a point to that? I activate my facedown Solemn Wishes which gives me 500 lifepoints every time I draw a card… which I do now due to Parshath’s effect.” She said, pulling a card as her trap card glowed… and a sudden louder chittering filled the air as Patricia laughed “Well that’s good… because Musasabi deals you 500 points of damage when he’s destroyed AND lets me summon up to two copies of himself to your field~” suddenly two more deranged squirrels appeared making Tabitha squeak in surprise (800/100) x 2 “For extra fun they can’t be tribute either~ With that I’ll end my turn.” She said, obviously enjoying Tabitha’s displeasure at her new monsters as the Gothita drew and gained lifepoints due to Solemn Wishes.
Tabitha LP: 8500 Patricia LP: 6700
Before she could play any cards though Patricia’s facedown lifted “I activate Threatening Roar, no battle phase for you this turn~” she teased making Tabitha pout “I play my second Nova Summoner then and set one card” she said as a second crystal wreath monster appeared (1400/800) along with a facedown “And then I’ll end my turn. It is your move.” She finished… shivering a little at the broad grin that slowly broke out across Patricia’s face as she pulled her card “My move then~” she said, accenting every syllable as Allure Queen suddenly started to glow.
Before Tabitha could question it one of the Musasabi’s vanished and appeared behind the spellcaster in a spectral form. Laughing at the child’s confused expression Patricia explained “Once per turn during my main phase 1 Allure Queen LV3 can select one level 3 or lower monster on your side of the field and equip it to itself and if it’d be destroyed the equipped monster takes the fall instead.” She finished chuckling softly “Quite fitting don’t you think? Now I summon my second Allure Queen LV3 and do the same thing~” she laughed as an identical young lady appeared (500/500) and the second squirrel was taken from Tabitha’s field.
“Next… I play Nightmares Steel Cage~” Tabitha scream as the spiked metal cage formed over her making Patricia coo mockingly “D’aaaaaw, don’t worry little one. This just means we can’t attack for two turns is all… and with that I’ll end my turn~” Tabitha drew her card and gained lifepoints due to Solemn Wishes “… I pay 500 hundred lifepoints to play Star Blast and lower the level of Darknight Parshath in my hand by 1, letting me summon him without tribute!” Another centaur angel appeared… at least it looked like an angel at first glance. It was identical to the Airknight except obvious more in the “Fallen” angel category with dark purple and silver armor, black wings, and a black horse lower body (1900/1400).
“Next I set two cards facedown and activate my previously set Jar of Greed letting me draw once…” she pulled her card and gained lifepoints “Then I end my turn…” Tabitha said as Patricia drew her card… and her Allure Queen’s started to glow. “I believe you’re familiar with the concept of LV monsters little one? When a requirement is fulfilled they… well…. Level up during my standby phase.” She said, smirking “My Allure Queen’s requirement is that they have a monster equipped to them by their own effect still attached… and since both of them do…” the glow died down revealing two identical female figures.
It was the same young lady as before… but aged up a few years with her hat and clothing becoming fancier and a little more extravagant along with two ribbons coming down from her back. The scepter she’d been holding earlier had become longer and fancier as well as two flames now danced around her (1000/1000) x 2 “Meet Allure Queen LV5~ Now then…” suddenly there was a scream as one of the two Allure Queen’s shattered “What!?” Patricia shrieked as she looked over at Tabitha’s side of the field… one of the Gothita’s traps had lifted and her lifepoints had taken a big dip.
Tabitha LP: 7000 Patricia LP: 6700
“I activated my Solemn Warning Trap… by paying 2000 lifepoints I can negate one of your summons or a spell, trap, or monster effect that would special summon and destroy it.” Tabitha explained, doing her best not to sound smug since that wouldn’t be ladylike. The older psychic made a furious face with her cheeks puffed all the way out for a moment before taking a deep breath “No matter~ I still have one of them… and since her powers lets her equip level 5 and lower monsters I think I’ll take… hmmmm, I always did like tall, dark, and handsome in my men~” with a glow Darknight Parshath vanished and appeared behind Allure Queen.
“I know… I found you sneaking them in behind father’s back… not that he was much better with bringing in ladies either…” Tabitha commented darkly as Patricia just chuckled and waved her hand in the air lightly “Oh little Tabi, I remember explaining this to you before~ We’re above the common riff-raff you find on the streets by right of birth and by virtue of wealth. Why should we constrain ourselves to the same rules they play by? They should be happy to serve our whims and wills~ That’s what the maid school is for after all~” she finished, Tabitha shuddering as she knew exactly what this imitation of her mother was referring to.
“… no, that’s what you believe. Not what I believe. They’re just as much people as we are and have just as many rights so please finish your turn so we can hurry this duel along.” Tabitha said through gritted teeth, barely able to remain polite and lady-like. Patricia just chuckled and shrugged “If you say so dear…” she said with the same tone you use to dismiss a child who says the sky was made of candy “It’s still my turn after all… so I’ll play my Defender, the Magical Knight! In defense mode of course~” another spellcaster appeared, wearing a blue and gold trimmed outfit. He had the typical conical hat and a huge set of shoulder guards and chest plate matching the huge shield he was carrying. Sheathing his tiny dagger her crouched down in a defense posture (1600/2000).
“And he gains a Spell Counter when he’s played! But I won’t tell you what it does though~” she said as the red jewel on Defender’s shield lit up “One card facedown and turn end~” Patricia cooed as Tabitha drew her card and gained lifepoints “… false mother… I can already surmise what the goal of your deck is, using others as shields for your own amusement… but can you tell me what my deck represents?” the little girl asked softly, making the older lady tilt her head in confusion.
“I would suppose it means you like ponies, but tell me… what does it mean to you?” she asked in that sweet, mocking tone again. “… it shows my belief in action, you don’t wait for things to change or sit and sulk… you do things to change them even if it’s foolish! So I’m not going to wait for this cage to break… I activate Mystical Space Typhon!!” the spell card appeared as the cage shattered “Then I tribute my Nova Summoner for my SECOND Airknight Parshath!” she called as the second copy of the centaur paladin appeared (1900/1400) “And I’ll have the first one attack your Allure Queen!” Parshath charged and struck the Queen... but instead of being destroyed his sword hit an invisible barrier. It still dealt damage though.
Tabitha LP: 7500 Patricia LP: 5800
“I draw a card due to Parshath’s effect… but why wasn’t your monster destroyed? She didn’t use her effect…” Tabitha asked as she drew and gained lifepoints while Patricia just smirked and pointed to Defender “When one of my spellcasters would be destroyed my Defender can removed a Spell Counter to protect them~” she said smugly as Tabitha took a deep breath “Well then… let us see you do it twice! I attack with my second Parshath!” she called as the second Airknight charged… and Patricia’s trap card lifted “I activate Shift, now your attack target shall be my Defender… and it looks like he’s a little too tough for you~”
“… I was hoping to save this… but I activate Rush Recklessly! Now my Parshath gains 700 attack points!” Tabitha called as the Airknights attack shot up to 2600 and he effortlessly cleaved through Defender… making Patricia scream in surprise as she took damage “Oh and I forgot to mention… he happens to deal damage through defense as well.” Tabitha commented, unable to suppress a giggle as she drew her card and gained lifepoints “I’ll set two cards facedown and end my turn. You’re go now unless you want to surrender.” She offered as Patricia glared “Not when the real show’s about to start… I draw!”
Tabitha LP: 8500 Patricia LP: 5200
Her Allure Queen glowed and grew blossoming into a beautiful woman with long hair as her costume became even more elaborate with draped detached sleeves, a low cut heavily decorated and ornamental dress, several more ribbons down her back, an full on staff instead of a scepter. A flurry of fireballs circled her this time (1500/1500) “Meet my Queen’s final form~ Allure Queen LV7~” Patricia cooed “And I’ll use her effect to take a monster of any level to equip one of your Parshath’s to her!” she laughed as one of the two paladins vanished and reappeared behind the Queen.
“Next… I’ll play my Pot of Avarice~” she pulled five monsters from her graveyard, all her Allure Queen’s and Defender, and shuffled them back into her deck before drawing two cards. “Hmmmm… I’ll play… Monster Reborn~” Queen’s Bodyguard reappeared and took up their positions around her “Next… I’ll summon my SECOND Queen’s Bodyguard!” she laughed as three more suited men appeared and took up position (1700/1200) x 2 “Now since my hired help seems to be a little… lacking… I think I’ll give them a bit of a spruce up~ I play The A. Forces!” a continuous spell card appeared.
“This little wonder gives every warrior type monster on my side of the field, like my guards here, an extra 200 attack points for every warrior or spellcaster monster I control~” all the Bodyguards glowed as their points shot up (2300/1200) “So lets end this little game… Bodyguard one! Attack her little pony!” Patricia shouted as the trio charged… and one of Tabitha’s traps lifted “I activate Draining Shield! It negates your attack and lets me gain lifepoints equal to your monsters attack!” she called as all three bodyguards bounced off an invisible barrier.
Tabitha LP: 10800 Patricia LP: 5200
Patricia was obviously furious at this point “Fine then… second guards, DESTROY that eyesore!!” she snarled as the next trio charged… and Tabitha’s other trap lifted “I activate Waboku, so your attack is worthless.” She said simply as three lady’s In blue robes appeared around Parshath protecting him “So you can’t destroy him.” She finished, unsurprised as Patricia stomped her foot in anger and snarled “Oh yeah!? Well just try getting through them to get at my Queen! I end my turn!” she shouted as Tabitha drew her card and gained more points.
Tabitha LP: 11300 Patricia LP: 5200
“… I would like to apologize for earlier” Tabitha said as she looked at her card, getting a confused look from Patricia “You’re a better recreation of my mother then I first gave you credit for… she also would have thrown that tantrum for not getting her way and would have built her deck just as… poorly.” She commented after a moment of searching for the word. “POORLY!?” Patricia shriek as Tabitha went on as if expecting it “You see my mother is quite self-serving and self-worshiping… she would have built her deck solely around summoning the monster she thinks best represents her, namely your Allure Queen, at the expense of everything else… like being able to win the match.”
“Prove it! You talk quite a big game for somebody in such a tiny body!”
“… I’m going to choose to ignore that very low and insulting remark.” Tabitha said through gritted teeth “And instead play the card I’ve finally drawn. By tributing Airknight Parshath I can special summon his superior form from my hand. Behold Neo-Parshath, the Sky Paladin!!” she called as her centaur was enveloped in a blinding bright light. When it died down a new, intimidating creature had taken its place. It had the same humanoid armored upper torso, sword, and shield as Airknight… but the human part was gone replaced by a robotic crystal being. It’s lower half was a mass of pure white crystals and two mechanical wings jutted from the large shining ring on its back. All and all it was a far more intimidating heavenly messenger then its previous form (2300/2000),
“2300 hundred attack points? All that build up and speech for a monster that can only tie with my bodyguards?”
“It is true… he starts with 2300… but if I have Sanctuary of the Sky in play and my lifepoints are higher then yours Neo-Parshath the Sky Paladin gains attack and defense points equal to the difference. I believe you can do the math there can’t you?”
“!!!!!”
The mass of crystals inside the armor started to glow brighter and brighter as energy crackled around Neo-Parshath’s sword and shield while his points climbed to incredibly levels (8400/8100). “Didn’t you wonder why I was putting so much effort into drawing and gaining lifepoints?” Tabitha asked as she smiled with pleasure at her now pale faced and horrified opponent “It was to search out my ace card… the fact it help provide me with all my traps and counter measures was a pleasant bonus as well… now then, before we end this I’d like to thank you.”
“Y-you c-can’t do this! I WAS SUPPOSED TO WIN!!!”
“I’ve been wanting to do this to something that resembled my mother ever since she gave me that speech about how my only purpose was to serve the family or vanish… I will make my own purpose one way or another! Neo-Parshath the Sky Paladin! Attack with Radiant Excalibur!!” she shouted as the angelic being held its sword aloft and focused all its energy into it before swinging it down at Patricia releasing all the pent up power in one huge glowing slash that struck the Gothitelle as she screamed bloody murder and was blown back clean out the very doors she’d come in.

Tabitha yawned as she sat up in her soft canopy bed, sleepily rubbing her eyes. Looking around her room was empty of others save for her dolls and plushies. After checking to make sure her sheets were still dry she yawned and snuggled back into bed, a soft smile playing on her lips. If she was lucky she’d get to have another sweet dream again.
The End.

************
Tabitha yawned as she sat up in her soft canopy bed, sleepily rubbing her eyes. Looking around her room was empty of others save for her dolls and plushies. After checking to make sure her sheets were still dry she yawned and snuggled back into bed, a soft smile playing on her lips. If she was lucky she’d get to have another sweet dream again.
The End.

Hmmm... it was a dream situation so there wasn't much tension, but the characters were well explored even without it.
Though on game mechanics I'm a bit confused at the part where she equips her own squirrels, I thought the AQ could only equip opponent's monsters?
I'm aware the phrase is a French term, Sasword was an aristocrat who would use more fancy terms (and hilariously, some mundane terms corrupted into fancy, such as his "La-men" pronunciation of 'ramen'). IIRC, 'noblesse oblige' was even discussed once or twice.
